We are looking for someone to #JoinUs as a Police Online Investigative Support Officer in the POLIT team based in The Kingsway, Bridgend. Could you be who we are looking for?

About the team/Department you will be joining:

The role is centrally based and the successful candidate may be required to perform duties across the South Wales Police area.

The post will sit within the intelligence development team who will receive, assess and develop all referrals. Working with partners to coordinate and improve the collective local response to a key national policy and provide management information on behalf of the business area. There will be a requirement to develop intelligence packages and where necessary support the POLIT investigation team by conducting investigations and bringing offenders to justice.

Investigations regularly involve the viewing of indecent images of children and other related graphic material.

What skills and experience do we need you to bring to the role:

  • Must be computer literate and proficient in Microsoft applications.
  • Must have good written and verbal communication skills.
  • Able to represent the force at case conferences and forums involving partners and other law enforcement agencies.
  • Able to work positively as part of a multi-disciplinary team (e.g. liaising with the broader police service and partner agencies).
  • Able to produce clear and concise reports.
  • Able to work within risk management and assessment frameworks.
  • Proven experience of researching and assessing information and identifying risk
  • Must have effective interviewing skills attained on an investigative department or be prepared to work towards attaining such skills.
  • Able to demonstrate investigative skills.
  • Able to obtain evidence and information for use in investigations
  • Able to plan and formulate investigative strategies for operational purposes.
  • Able to prepare evidence for court and submit files for purposes of prosecution.
  • Able to manage exhibits.

The successful candidate must be prepared to undergo vetting to MV/SC level.
