Police National Computer (PNC) Assistant
An exciting opportunity has arisen to join North Wales Police as a Police National Computer (PNC) Assistant on a permanent basis. As the PNC Service Assistant you will update and disseminate information held on all applications of the Police National Computer, including Criminal Records on the Phoenix Application, whilst receiving and dealing with all telephone enquiries relating to PNC checks from officers and non-police agencies. You’ll also manage and administer the warrant database to ensure the execution of warrants efficiently and expeditiously.
In return you’ll receive an excellent salary which includes a 14% shift allowance and 2.5% weekend working allowance, alongside many additional benefits as listed on the North Wales Police website. You will be required to work 37 hours per week on a rotating shift pattern, which is detailed below;
Week 1: Monday to Friday: 08:00 to 16:00
Week 2: Monday to Friday: 16:00 to 00:00
Working 1 in 8 weekends: 11:00 to 19:00
Including your Shift Allowance and Weekend Working Allowance you would receive £4,488.66 on top of the starting pay (£27,204) which in total is £31,692.66.
Role Purpose
To update and disseminate information held on all applications of the Police National Computer including Criminal Records on the Phoenix Application. Receive and deal with all telephone enquiries relating to PNC checks from officers and non-police agencies.
To manage and administer the warrant database together with related tasks involved in ensuring the execution of warrants efficiently and expeditiously in accordance with Force Policy. To conduct searches on various systems as required.
You will be required to demonstrate in your application the minimum requirement for the role:
- Possess a relevant NVQ level 3 qualification or equivalent or have relevant experience of updating Police National Computer applications.
- Possess basic clerical and administrative skills to include filing and distribution of mail.
- Able to disseminate data from a variety of sources and reproduce the same.
- Proven communication skills together with an ability to work well in a large team environment.
- Self-motivated and pro-active in order to prioritise and complete tasks and to produce relevant and timely information.
- Ability to work independently and make decisions using own judgement and initiative.
- The Use of Information Technology to an intermediate level of at least 35 wpm with a sound working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications.
