Police Driver Trainer

About the Role
We are seeking a skilled and motivated Driver Trainer to design, develop and deliver high-quality driver training to both new and experienced learners. This role focuses on ensuring all learning outcomes are achieved while maintaining exceptional service standards and upholding Force Values—being Courageous, Open, Fair and Inclusive—alongside the Code of Ethics.

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Delivering driver training and practical assessments in line with legislation, policies, and national standards
  • Training officers to operate safely in emergency response conditions, applying the National Decision Making Model (NDM) and dynamic risk assessment
  • Designing and developing training programmes aligned with organisational and national requirements
  • Assessing learner performance and determining driving authority levels (Basic, Response, Advanced, or specialist)
  • Ensuring learners understand key driving principles including Roadcraft and the Highway Code
  • Managing learner welfare, safety, and compliance with risk assessments and Health & Safety standards
  • Maintaining vehicles and equipment to ensure safety, cleanliness, and roadworthiness
  • Supporting continuous improvement and innovation in training delivery
  • Working collaboratively with colleagues and stakeholders to deliver excellent service
