Crime Scene Investigator Team Leader
Pay: PO1/2 £45,765 – 50,949, plus 12.5% shift allowance and on call payments
Base: Blacon CSI Hub
Contract Type: Permanent
We are seeking an experienced and motivated Crime Scene Investigation (CSI) Team Leader to join our Forensic Investigations Department at the Blacon CSI Hub. This is an exciting opportunity to lead a team within the Forensics Investigations Department, playing a critical role in maintaining high‑quality forensic standards and delivering an exceptional service to investigations across the organisation.
As a CSI Team Leader, you will provide day‑to‑day operational leadership, technical supervision and professional guidance to the CSI team. You will ensure scenes are attended, assessed and processed in line with force policy, forensic best practice and legislative requirements. You will make dynamic decisions to manage forensic risk, support major and complex crime scenes, and oversee the deployment, performance and welfare of your team.
A key element of this role is maintaining compliance with the Forensic Science Regulator’s Code of Practice and ISO 17020 accreditation standards. You will contribute to quality assurance activities including technical reviews, competency assessments, audit preparation, management of non‑conformances, and ensuring the integrity and continuity of forensic evidence.
The successful candidate will be an experienced Crime Scene Investigator with a strong technical background, excellent communication skills and proven supervisory or mentoring experience. You will be confident in managing competing demands, supporting staff development, and working collaboratively with investigators, forensic partners and wider policing teams.
This is a demanding but highly rewarding role that offers the opportunity to shape forensic service delivery and influence investigative outcomes. If you are an experienced CSI with the leadership qualities and professional expertise to drive high standards within an accredited environment, we would welcome your application.
