- understanding the business question

- selecting appropriate analytical approaches

- delivering outputs to agreed standards and timelines

  • Exercise analytical judgement by:

- making and clearly explaining assumptions

- challenging data quality, completeness, or definitions

- articulating uncertainty, limitations, and risk

  • Respond professionally to challenge, adapting analysis or explanations where appropriate and maintaining confidence in evidence-based conclusions.
  • Manage competing priorities effectively, ensuring analytical work is well-planned, prepared, and delivered to deadline.
  • Handle sensitive data appropriately, maintaining confidentiality and complying with organisational, legal, and policing standards.
  • Contribute to the continuous improvement of analytical products, processes, and capability across the wider performance function.

Key Result Areas

The Performance Analyst will be expected to:

  • Deliver timely, accurate, and insightful analysis that supports operational decision-making and performance improvement.
  • Provide clear, evidence-based insight that enables managers and senior leaders to understand performance, risk, and demand.
  • Demonstrate ownership of analytical work, ensuring outputs are well-prepared, quality-assured, and fit for purpose.
  • Contribute to improved understanding and use of performance data across operational teams.
  • Maintain high standards of professionalism, integrity, and confidentiality when handling sensitive information.

Communications & Working Relationships

The postholder will be required to work closely with a wide range of stakeholders, including:

  • Operational managers and team leaders across Vetting, PNCB, and CEC
  • Senior leaders and governance forums requiring analytical insight
  • Performance, insight, and business support colleagues
