Description of Department:
The NDEU is a CT grant funded unit that oversees the development and training of Disruptive Effects across UK policing and partners. The team works on behalf of the National Counter Terrorism Security Office (NaCTSO), to support the Protect pillar of the UK CONTEST strategy. The team are high-performing, adaptable and proactive in supporting UK forces and law enforcement partners including UK Border Force. This support includes overseeing a cadre of trainers nationwide, coordinating and delivering training nationwide, developing courses both for Project Servator and See Check and Notify (SCaN), as well as quality assuring the delivery of these tactics. The department is embedded into the CT policing structure, focusing on being adaptive to emerging and challenging threats.
The successful candidate will develop and deliver Disruptive Effects (Project Servator and See, Check and Notify (SCaN)) products across the UK, ensuring they are in line with the counter terrorism threat.
The candidate will demonstrate exceptional ability to represent City of London Police, the NDEU and UK Policing, provide evidence of working with and supporting partners, be able to work proactively and independently, and demonstrate creativity and a keenness for continual improvement.
All candidates must be able to demonstrate the following:
- Level 3 AET or equivalent training qualification or suitable experience.
- Experience in the role of a Disruptive Effects Officer.
- Experience of community and partner engagement and communication.
- Excellent planning and organisational skills.
- Ability to work proactively with minimum supervision in a pressurised environment.
- High degree of flexibility in moving between tasks and roles as business priorities dictate.
- Ability to communicate at all levels, within and outside the organisation.
- Ability to deal tactfully, discreetly and effectively with both internal and external stakeholders at all levels.
- Ability to assess and analyse information and provide fair and accurate feedback.
- Awareness of Security-Minded Communications.
- High level of IT skills, including MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint and MS Teams, with the ability to learn new software quickly.
- Ability to regularly travel and stay away from home (domestically and occasionally internationally).
The application and interview will be tested under Level 1 of the College of Policing Competency and Values Framework.
