Operational Security Advisor

Tarian Regional Organised Crime Unit (ROCU) are seeking applications for the position of Operational Security Advisor.

ROCUs form a critical part of the national policing network, providing a range of specialist policing capabilities to forces which help them to investigate, disrupt and dismantle serious and organised crime effectively.  

The Operational Security Advisor will provide expert advice to senior managers and investigations team leaders across Tarian ROCU on operational security and risk management. The postholder will provide an independent source of expert advice and guidance in respect of the legalities and administrative procedures relating to covert operations, in accordance with the Regulation of Investigatory Powers Act 2000, the Investigatory Powers Act 2016, the Police Act 1997 and the associated codes of practice, and policies.

This role will support senior investigators in the planning and delivery of investigations using covert law enforcement tactics with an emphasis on risk management. This role will ensure regional assets including staff, capabilities, intellectual property and organisational reputation are appropriately protected.

This role will support Senior Responsible Officer’s by providing reassurance about the integrity of the processes for authorising and managing covert activity under the relevant legal frameworks, policies and guidance.

This role will maintain oversight of error reporting to the IPCO and provide a single point of contact for facilitating IPCO inspections.

The successful candidate must be willing to undergo vetting to MV/SV Vetting.
