Chief Executive and Monitoring Officer
Salary £112,916.00 - £117,450.00
Temporary until April 2028 – Full time (37 hours)
The Chief Executive’s main role is to support and advise the Police and Crime Commissioner in delivering their statutory duties and responsibilities.
Applicants should have proven experience at a senior management level with the ability to initiate and develop corporate strategies and translate them into effective action. A legal qualification is desirable.
The role will include managing the transition arrangements to a new Local Policing Body and policing service as detailed in The UK government’s 2026 white paper, “From Local to National: A New Model for Policing”, the most significant police reform in 200 years.
The Chief Executive also holds the role of the Monitoring Officer and Head of Staff.
Level 4 Welsh language is desirable. Non Welsh speaking applicants should commit themselves to learning Welsh to the appropriate standard to undertake the post.

Education/Training
- Degree and/or appropriate professional qualification or demonstration of the intellectual skills associated with education to this level.
- Commitment to continuous personal development.
- Desirable - MBA or other post-graduate management qualification.
- Desirable – a legal qualification.
