NLRF Senior Business Officer

Salary: Band 5, £28,689 - £29,859 (Please note it is Northumbria Police policy to appoint at the beginning of the band)  

Location: Agile working across Etal Lane Police Station and homeworking, with travel to partner organisation premises as required.

Hours/Contract: 37 hours per week, 1 year fixed term / secondment

The role  

Here at Northumbria Police, we think our region is amazing! This could be the perfect time for you to join us in our NLRF Team as a NLRF Senior Business Support Officer.

You will play a key role in providing a proactive, efficient and high quality support service to the Northumbria Local Resilience Forum (NLRF) Senior Leadership Team. Working closely with the Chief Resilience Officer, NLRF Trailblazer Manager and NLRF Manager, you’ll help identify and prioritise organisational and operational needs, ensuring the smooth delivery of key services.

Your contribution will directly support the partnership’s vision, priorities and values, helping strengthen resilience across the region.

What you’ll do

  • Provide a confidential and comprehensive secretariat service for internal, regional and national meetings, including agenda preparation, minute taking, report collation and action tracking for Boards and Strategic Coordination Groups.
  • Manage and coordinate diaries for the NLRF Senior Leadership Team, arranging appointments, travel and ensuring full briefing and preparation.
  • Build and maintain strong working relationships with internal and external partners, making informed decisions on behalf of the Senior Leadership Team and delegating appointments when necessary.
  • Draft and produce documentation, correspondence and spreadsheets, collating information to support the Senior Leadership Team.
  • Maintain accurate financial expenditure records for the Senior Leadership Team and liaise with the finance department as required.

What you’ll bring

  • Strong written communication, organisational and prioritisation skills, with experience handling highly sensitive and confidential information in line with required agreements.
  • Competent in keyboard, IT, internet and Microsoft Office applications, with secretarial experience and a solid background in clerical and administrative duties.
  • Experienced in using database systems, electronic mail and computerised diaries, with strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications including Word, Outlook (email and diary management), Excel, PowerPoint, Mail Merge, SharePoint, OneNote and Microsoft Teams.
  • Proactive and able to use initiative, with strong prioritisation skills and the ability to work effectively under pressure and meet deadlines.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills both written and verbal.

Terms of appointment 

This is a fixed term / secondment role subject to a six-month probationary period.
