The starting salary for this role will usually be at the bottom of the salary range and will be pro-rata if the working hours are less than full time.

The Role & Key Responsibilities

From your first day with us you will be part of a policing family making a real difference.

It is our mission to identify and protect vulnerable people, prevent and respond to harm and keep people safe.

In this role you will:

Play a key role in improving how Surrey Police responds to missing people, helping to ensure vulnerable individuals receive the best possible service and protection. You will provide expert advice and guidance on missing person investigations, reviewing cases to identify good practice, learning opportunities and areas for improvement.

Working closely with colleagues across policing and partner organisations, you will help shape force policy, influence standards and promote effective safeguarding approaches. You will research emerging trends, assess risks and support the development of training and organisational learning to ensure our response remains professional, consistent and focused on protecting those most at risk.

Skills & Experience

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • Proven experience of working with missing person investigations and managing risk associated with vulnerable people.
  • Strong knowledge and understanding of legislation, guidance and best practice relating to missing persons.
  • Experience of reviewing investigations, analysing information and identifying opportunities for improvement.
  • The ability to assess complex information, make sound judgements and provide clear, evidence-based advice.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build effective working relationships with colleagues, partner agencies and external stakeholders.
  • Experience of influencing others and promoting positive change through collaboration and professional expertise.
  • Strong report writing skills, with the ability to produce accurate, concise and high-quality written work.
  • The ability to work independently, manage competing priorities and use initiative to achieve outcomes.
  • Good computer skills, including experience of using Microsoft Office applications.
  • A full UK driving licence.
