Full-time vacancy
FTC/Secondment: 6 months
This is an exciting opportunity to work with our partners in Oxford or Banbury to support the most vulnerable by helping to combat domestic abuse (DA), support survivors and bring perpetrators to justice.
The overall purpose of the role is to provide coordination and administrative arrangements for all Multi Agency Risk Assessment Conferences (MARAC) and promote safety, accountability, efficiency and effective communication between all parties who attend MARAC.
Previous experience working in the field of domestic abuse, and a commitment to improving the response to domestic abuse, is essential for this role.
The successful candidate will coordinate the MARAC process, providing links between police and other partners in efforts to minimise the risk of domestic abuse to victims.
The role is hybrid, which allows candidates flexibility during their working day.
The role holder has a key role in identifying victims of high-risk DA through partnership work and helping ensure safeguarding is in place across agencies. This involves arranging and following up safeguarding meetings with minutes, actions and updating systems.
This role is critical to safeguarding victims beyond Thames Valley, with the role holder being responsible for out of force enquires for victims that have fled DA and relocated. The role holder will liaise with partner agencies, Domestic Abuse Investigation Unit’s and other Police Forces to obtain information and updates, as well as providing statistic evidence for internal and third sector understanding of risk and developing best practice.
You will have excellent communication skills with the ability to forge positive relationships, both inside and outside the Force, along with the ability to display sensitivity, discretion and maintain confidentiality. You will also need to have the ability to work with minimum supervision with proven problem solving, time management and organisation skills.
Capability to travel across the Force is required in order to undertake assignments in a timely manner and work flexibly. Due to unsocial hours and personal safety for lone working public transport may not be suitable. For this reason, a full driving licence is considered essential for this role.
As part of the Thames Valley Police family, you will enjoy a fantastic range of benefits including 24 days annual leave per annum, pro-rata for part time (plus Bank Holidays), flexible working conditions, a wide range of lifestyle discounts, career development opportunities and have the option to join a local government pension scheme. For more information on our benefits, please visit the supporting you page, via the link at the bottom of the advert.
If you are a permanent member of staff applying for this role, please note it will be offered on a secondment basis. Important: All secondments must be supported in writing by your Line Manager and Head of Department/Commander or Deputy. Please attach written approval from your line manager and Head of Department in your application. If the secondment is not supported then the role may be offered on a fixed term contract basis, but this has implications including loss of continuous service protections.
Please note: Shift allowance, on-call or other job-related allowances from the previous role will not be protected unless they are attached to the new role for the duration of the secondment.
