Are you looking for a varied and rewarding role where you can make a real difference to community safety?

We are seeking a proactive and confident individual to join our team as a Licensing Officer, playing a key role in reducing crime, disorder and alcohol-related harm across our communities. Working closely with police colleagues, local authorities, businesses and partner agencies, you will help influence licensing decisions, lead enforcement activity, and represent the organisation at hearings, meetings and partnership forums.

This is a unique opportunity to combine investigation, problem-solving, negotiation and community engagement in a role where your work will have a visible and lasting impact. If you enjoy building strong relationships, balancing competing priorities and working collaboratively to improve public safety, we would love to hear from you.

What you'll bring

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to confidently engage with a wide range of audiences in both formal and informal settings.
  • Proven experience of influencing, negotiating and building effective working relationships with people from diverse backgrounds.
  • A strong understanding of licensing legislation, or the ability and willingness to develop specialist knowledge through training provided by Thames Valley Police.
  • Good IT skills, including experience using Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook and SharePoint.
  • The ability to analyse, interpret and present information clearly to meet the needs of a variety of internal and external stakeholders.
  • Strong organisational skills, with the ability to manage a varied workload and respond effectively to changing priorities.

Essential Requirements

  • A full UK driving licence is essential and the ability to travel across the Force area in a timely manner. Due to the requirement to work flexibly, including occasional unsocial hours and lone working, public transport may not always be available or suitable.
  • Willingness to attend training and continue developing knowledge and expertise relevant to the role.

This is a fantastic opportunity to contribute to safer communities while developing specialist expertise in a challenging and rewarding environment.

As part of the Thames Valley Police family you will enjoy a fantastic range of benefits including 24 days annual leave per annum, pro-rata for part time (plus Bank Holidays), flexible working conditions, a wide range of lifestyle discounts, career development opportunities and have the option to join a local government pension scheme.
