About the role
As Lead Infrastructure Operations Engineer, you will play a key role in delivering the reliable, secure and resilient technology services that enable modern policing. Leading infrastructure operations across on-premise and cloud environments, you will drive service excellence, operational maturity and continuous improvement while supporting Wiltshire Police's digital transformation. Working with engineers, suppliers and stakeholders, you'll help shape the future of our infrastructure services, champion automation and modern operating practices, and ensure critical digital platforms remain available when they matter most.
What you will be doing
- Lead the day-to-day delivery of infrastructure operations across on-premise and cloud platforms, ensuring reliable and resilient services.
- Lead and develop a team of infrastructure specialists, building capability and supporting high performance.
- Manage infrastructure incidents, problems and major incidents, driving root cause analysis and long-term service improvements.
- Ensure infrastructure availability, capacity, resilience and recovery arrangements meet operational requirements.
- Lead infrastructure change, release and deployment activities, ensuring services remain secure and stable.
- Champion automation, standardisation and modern cloud operating practices across the infrastructure estate.
- Manage operational suppliers and partners, ensuring high-quality service delivery and performance.
- Provide operational leadership for projects and service transitions, ensuring solutions are supportable and ready for live service.
About you and your experience
- ITIL 4 Foundation certification.
- Degree in Computing, Information Technology, Engineering, or equivalent professional experience.
- Microsoft Azure Administrator (AZ-104) certification or an equivalent cloud operations qualification.
- Significant experience supporting and operating enterprise infrastructure services in complex environments.
- Experience leading operational teams and managing critical infrastructure services.
- Strong understanding of cloud and hybrid infrastructure operations, service resilience and operational support.
- A commitment to continuous professional development and keeping pace with evolving DDaT technologies, practices and standards.
