We are seeking a dedicated and professional Initial Child Protection Conference (ICPC) Police Staff Member to join our safeguarding team. This is an exciting opportunity to play a vital role in protecting vulnerable children and supporting multi-agency safeguarding arrangements.

Working closely with police officers, social care professionals, health services, education providers, and partner agencies, you will be responsible for researching, preparing, and presenting police information for Initial Child Protection Conferences. Your work will help ensure informed decision-making and contribute to safeguarding children at risk of harm.

Key Responsibilities

  • Research and gather information from police systems relating to children and families involved in child protection investigations.
  • Prepare accurate, concise, and high-quality reports for Initial Child Protection Conferences.
  • Represent the police service at child protection conferences and multi-agency safeguarding meetings where required.
  • Share relevant information appropriately and lawfully with partner agencies in accordance with safeguarding procedures and data protection legislation.
  • Identify safeguarding concerns and escalate risks where necessary.
  • Maintain accurate records and ensure all information is managed confidentially and professionally.
  • Build and maintain effective working relationships with internal departments and external partner agencies.
  • Support the force's commitment to protecting vulnerable people and improving outcomes for children and families.

What We're Looking For

The successful candidate will demonstrate:

  • Experience of working within a safeguarding, criminal justice, social care, education, health, or public sector environment.
  • Strong analytical and research skills with the ability to interpret complex information.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to produce clear and factual reports to strict deadlines.
  • Confidence in working independently while contributing effectively within a multi-disciplinary team.
  • Strong organisational skills and attention to detail.
  • Understanding of child protection and safeguarding principles (desirable).
  • Experience of handling sensitive and confidential information.

Essential Qualifications and Skills

  • GCSEs (or equivalent) including English and Mathematics.
  • Competent IT skills, including Microsoft Office applications.
  • Ability to prioritise workload and manage competing demands.
  • Commitment to equality, diversity, and inclusion.

Desirable

  • Knowledge of child protection legislation and safeguarding procedures.
  • Experience attending multi-agency meetings or conferences.
  • Experience working with police systems or within a policing environment.
  • Relevant safeguarding, social care, or criminal justice qualification.
