Intelligence Operative

Cambridgeshire Constabulary's Intelligence and Specialist Crime Department (ISCD) are recruiting for Intelligence Operatives (IO) to join the live desk supporting the organisation.

The Intelligence and Specialist Crime Department exists to provide the organisation with a tactical and strategic advantage. The provision of accurate, reliable and timely intelligence to front line staff plays a critical role in ensuring the Constabulary impacts across Force priorities and supporting issues of threat, risk and harm; contributing towards making Cambridgeshire a safer county to live and work.

There are current and projected vacancies within the ISCD’s “Live Desk”.

As an Intelligence Operative (IO) on the “Live Desk”, you will be at the centre of daily operational activity and responsible for a number of core intelligence tasks; these include receiving, evaluating, researching and presenting information in support of operations, threats to life, organised crime groups; as well as identifying emerging problems and providing recommendations within the criminal environment.

This is a 24/7 full time position covering 365 days per year on a shift pattern, which includes working bank holidays. This position therefore attracts a 20% shift enhancement to those working standard office hours.

We are especially keen to see applications from people with an intelligence background or from those who have knowledge of intelligence within a policing or law enforcement or military background.

Successful applicants will be required to attend an interview where competency questions and Microsoft skills will be assessed.

    Please note that, as part of the vetting process, the BCH Vetting Unit may need to contact your current line manager for a Supervisor Appraisal. This requirement aligns with the 2025 National Guidelines for Vetting (APP 6.5.18).
