Job Title: Intelligence Officer – Tasking Coordination
Salary: The starting salary is £48,021, which includes allowances totalling £10,511.
The salary is broken down as £37,510 basic salary, which will increase annually until you reach the top of the scale £40,141. Plus, a 20% shift disturbance allowance, a location allowance of £2,009 and a non-pensionable allowance of £1,000.
Location: Cobalt Square, Vauxhall
Working Hours: This is full time position. Successful applicants will be required to work a combination of Early, Mid and Late Shifts as part of a rolling roster. As the team operates 24/7, weekend and night shifts are an integral part of the role. The role holder will be expected to work 12-hour shifts between 7am-7pm and 7pm-7am. The ability to adapt to operational requirements is essential.
If your role requires you to work shifts, you may also be entitled to an additional shift disturbance allowance of 12.5%, 15% or 20%, depending on your shift pattern.
This is an exciting opportunity to join the HQ function within Met Intelligence of the Metropolitan Police.
The Intelligence Support Officer – Tasking Coordination will triage and coordinate requests for Specialist Crime resources, ensuring that only appropriate and authorised requests are actioned.
The role holder will manage and maintain Associated Police Management Information System (APMIS) records to support operational oversight and accountability.

Duties and Responsibilities:
- Triage requests received via the Computer Aided Dispatch (CAD) system for Specialist Crime assets (e.g. Flying Squad, Trident, Hat Car, Orochi), validating information and rejecting where criteria are not met, to ensure correct tasking of resources.
- Allocate Specialist Crime resources by liaising with Detective Sergeants and Duty Officers, ensuring timely deployment to critical incidents such as murders, shootings, kidnaps, and firearms-enabled robberies.
- Create and update APMIS records for proactive operations, ensuring accuracy and completeness of operational data.
- Review SharePoint submissions for proactive taskings, rejecting incomplete requests and providing feedback, or initiating APMIS records when correct, to maintain process integrity.
- Provide operational advice to frontline officers (Constables and Sergeants) on escalation procedures and tasking requirements, supporting effective incident management.
- Engage with Inspectors and above to explain tasking decisions where necessary, ensuring transparency and consistency.
- Contribute to daily coordination by attending three daily Met Grip pacesetter calls, providing situational updates on Specialist Crime deployments.
- Liaise with partner agencies (e.g. vehicle hire companies under Operation Tellus) by phone and email to secure resources in line with Memoranda of Understanding.
- Work independently on shift rotation (24/7), making triage and escalation decisions in the absence of direct supervision, escalating complex matters to the on-call Detective Sergeant where required.
Essential Skills & Experience:
- Experience working in an operational policing environment requiring fast-time decisions.
- Experience supporting or advising officers in relation to critical or serious incidents.
- Proficient use of CAD, APMIS, SharePoint, and associated systems.
- Operational knowledge of Specialist Crime and wider policing procedures.
- Knowledge of Operation Tellus protocols and Memoranda of Understanding with vehicle hire companies.
- Proficient knowledge of CAD and APMIS tasking and record-keeping processes.
Qualifications:
- CAD training
- APMIS licence holder
Additional Requirements:
- Achieve or maintain Intelligence Professionalisation Programme Certification throughout MO2 tenure.
- Applicants must hold or be prepared to undergo Management Vetting (MV) and Security Clearance (SC).
