The Opportunity
We are currently inviting applications for the position of Intelligence Management Officer within the Online Child Abuse Team (OCAT) located at our Headquarters in Northallerton.
As Intelligence Management Officer (IMO) you will deliver a high-quality research service and intelligence support to the OCAT. You will work closely with intelligence colleagues to deliver accurate and timely data, to facilitate analysis and inform decision making, as well as evaluating information to ensure its quality, accuracy, integrity, and security.
You will also proactively identify information sources for research and analysis purposes, and complete open-source research, as required. You will liaise with internal and external partners to clarify the requirement, nature, and purpose of requests for intelligence packages in line with the terms of reference.
Key responsibilities:
- Working within the framework of the National Intelligence Model (NIM) to carry out research in connection with the Force and Safeguarding strategic and tactical priorities.
- Review relevant pieces of intelligence to quality assure content and Niche recording as per Management of Police Information guidelines, ensuring accuracy and completeness to determine the most appropriate action required, relative to control strategy priorities.
- Disseminate intelligence/information, in line with national standards
- Work as part of the intelligence department to support others in accessing specialist sources of information and produce a report of the information to support operational policing.
- Receipt and assessment of information and maintenance of record management systems.
- Develop and compile intelligence packages in relation to immediate and developing incidents and ongoing operations
- Work with outside agencies with which information sharing agreements exist.
- Act as first point of contact, maintain confidentiality to ensure queries and requests are dealt with efficiently and effectively.
- Adhere to all legal frameworks, principles, policies, and guidance relevant to the role.
- Undertake a range of administrative activities and attend meetings when required.
What we’re looking for:
- Good communication skills with the ability to listen to others and transmit and receive information effectively.
- A high level of research skills including previous experience of collating, evaluating, recording, and disseminating large amounts of information from a wide range of sources.
- Experience of checking, recording, and retrieving information from a database.
- Ability to effectively prioritise works to achieve tight deadlines to meet organisational or legislative requirements.
- Proven ability to work as part of a team as well as under own initiative/unsupervised.
We will support you in developing in your career. You will be willing to undertake:
- The College of Policing Intelligence Professionalisation Programme Certification. This must be completed within 12 months of appointment.
- The College of Policing training programme, Introduction to Intelligence and Introduction to Research.
- Be willing to develop knowledge in relevant legislation, policy, and guidelines (e.g. Intelligence, APP, Freedom of Information Act, MoPI, GDPR).
