Intelligence Development/Assessment Officer

Counter Terrorism Policing Wales (CTPW) invites applications for the role of Intelligence Development and Assessment Officer (IDAO) to join the CTPW Fixed Intelligence Management Unit (FIMU).

Counter Terrorism Policing is a national collaboration of UK police forces working with the UK Intelligence Community to protect the public and national security by preventing, disrupting and investigating terrorist activity.

As an IDAO, you will carry out intelligence assessment and development work in order to identify vulnerabilities, safeguarding opportunities and reduce the risk of harm to Wales’ communities from Terrorism and Violent Extremism, identifying intelligence gaps and tasking appropriate assets to build the intelligence picture. This includes managing, handling and assessing all information and intelligence, including confidential information and secret/sensitive intelligence, to identify threat and risk levels and determine whether it is developed, disseminated, disposed or stored.

Applicants should have experience of working within an intelligence or similar operational environment and be willing to undertake specialist Counter Terrorism and role-specific training which may at times involve travel and overnight stays across the United Kingdom.

This position is based in Bridgend.

This post requires the successful Candidate to successfully complete vetting to MV/SC and DV Developed Vetting Level.

The post will also require the successful completion of an additional security induction process, part of which requires pre-screening checks of nationality and foreign connections. It must be stressed that this is in addition to Force Management Vetting. Candidates must achieve both clearances to take up this post.

Employment within Counter Terrorism Policing requires applicants for the role to undertake a further security induction for which British citizenship is required. Failure to hold citizenship would preclude persons for applying for these positions.

CTP Wales actively encourages those from under-represented groups to apply so we can achieve a workforce representative of the communities we serve. To support the ambition of a diverse workforce, South Wales Police is able to offer a Guaranteed Interview Scheme (GIS). The GIS is available for people living with a disability or identify as ethnically diverse.

Please note, if you are an internal candidate and subject to an ongoing PSD investigation, your appointment or placement in the role may be delayed pending an outcome. Whether the role is held open will be considered on a case-by-case basis

As an equal opportunities’ employer, we welcome applications from all suitably qualified persons. However, as Black, Asian and Minority Ethnic candidates are currently underrepresented within the Force, we would particularly welcome applications from ethnically diverse candidates.
