About the role 

As an Infrastructure Operations Engineer, you will help deliver the critical communications services that enable modern policing. Supporting voice, video, collaboration and contact centre platforms, including 999 and 101 services, you'll ensure essential communications remain secure, resilient and available when they matter most. Working within a modern Digital, Data and Technology environment, you'll play a key role in supporting frontline operations, improving service reliability and helping shape the future of communications services that protect communities across Wiltshire. 

What you will be doing  

  • Support and monitor live unified communications services, including voice, video, collaboration and contact centre platforms. 
  • Provide 1st and 2nd line support for communications services, resolving incidents and service requests in line with agreed service levels. 
  • Help maintain the reliability and availability of critical public contact channels, including 999 and 101 services. 
  • Monitor service health and performance, identifying issues early and taking proactive action to minimise disruption. 
  • Support the delivery of operational changes and releases, ensuring services are introduced safely and effectively. 
  • Work with suppliers and technical teams to investigate issues and restore services quickly and efficiently. 
  • Maintain accurate operational documentation, configuration information and knowledge resources. 
  • Contribute to service improvement activities, root cause investigations and the ongoing evolution of communications services. 

About you and your experience  

  • ITIL 4 Foundation certification. 
  • ITIL 4 Practitioner or Specialist certification, such as Change Enablement or Monitor, Support & Fulfil. 
  • Professional certification in a unified communications platform, such as Microsoft Teams or Teams Phone. 
  • Experience supporting communications, collaboration or telephony services within a live operational environment. 
  • An understanding of service management, incident resolution and operational support best practice. 
  • A proactive approach to problem solving, service reliability and continuous improvement. 
  • Commitment to continuous professional development and keeping pace with evolving DDaT technologies and ways of working.
