A great opportunity has arisen to join a growing support team as a ICT Support Engineer within the BCH (Beds, Cambs & Herts) ICT Department. Join the exciting and dynamic world of policing and contribute towards making Bedfordshire, Cambridgeshire and Hertfordshire a safer place.
Based at Cambridgeshire HQ, Hinchingbrooke , you will be an integral part of the ICT Operations Team supporting the force desktop and laptop estate ensuring that vital business software is highly available to staff and officers.
You'll demonstrate your experience in a 2nd Line ICT Support Environment, using your technical knowledge and experience to analyse hardware and application faults that are raised via the ICT Service Desk, ensuring resolution within agreed SLAs and making sure any procedures or corrective actions are documented. You will be required to work and travel to remote locations, so a full driving license is essential, along with providing on call cover on a rota based system.
You must be an effective team player, organised and highly motivated, understanding the importance of flexibility, effective communication, and collaboration to work efficiently with colleagues located in different office locations across the BCH estate, our users and our suppliers.
The successful candidate must have the following skills and experiences:
- Educated to A-level or equivalent (Inc. Maths & English) or proven written and numeric skills
- At least 2 years’ IT support experience working in a Microsoft Windows environment.
- At least 1 years’ experience of hardware (desktop/ server/laptop) fault finding and fault resolution
- Experience of complete desktop and mobile equipment installations, diagnostics, repair and re-imaging
- Customer Service Qualification or 2 years’ experience within customer service environment
- Self-motivated and well organised
- Previous experience of working in a team
- Ability to work effectively with minimal supervision even when under pressure
