Hours: 37 Hours Per Week (Full-Time) Monday to Friday (Plus On-Call to Include Weekends)

To provide highly qualified level 1 (and support ROCU TSU where required with level 2) specialist support and technical assistance with covert and overt surveillance operations, ensuring the delivery of legal, ethical, efficient and effective technical policing capability to the Force.
The post requires a high level of confidentiality and the flexibility to respond to urgent instructions within a disciplined organisation, locally and regionally.
The successful candidate will be required to converse with Police Officers of all ranks. You must have a minimum qualification of HNC in electronics or engineering equivalent, including knowledge of wired and wireless internet protocol networking.
The post holder may be required to work long hours at short notice and to undertake other responsibilities as are reasonably commensurate with the grade of the post, including additional training locally and nationally.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct technical site surveys, produce feasibility and risk assessment reports providing technical advice and recommendations to investigating officers of all ranks taking into consideration the objectives of the operation, the relevant surveillance authority is compliant to the requested tasking, equipment availability and time constraints.
- Using specialist knowledge and experience, prepare, configure, test, and install electronic surveillance equipment ethically and in accordance with the relevant standard operating procedure (SOP) in compliance with the relevant legislation and authority levels, ensuring all identified risks to the operational deployment have been covered ensuring the evidential material is of the highest standard for presentation at court.
- Maintain and update overt and covert equipment databases ensuring compliance with IPCO annual audit inspections. Maintain and update exhibit database, ensuring all record entries are accurate utilising bespoke specialist software packages, for future reference by appropriate parties, and prepare statements in accordance with the latest guidelines concerning the continuity of evidence.
- Utilising the required overt/covert techniques and specialist knowledge carry out relevant diagnostic fault finding, repair and maintenance of all overt /covert technical equipment and installations in accordance National Standard operating procedures (SOP)’s and in compliance with all current Health and Safety legislation.
- Assist the ROCU TSU technical Officers on level two technical deployments as and when required, maintaining appropriate CPD.
- Conduct site surveys on all ANPR deployments, liaise with the relevant council/authority to seek consent of installation, ensure all police assets are installed in accordance with all relevant legislation, such as Lantra Chapter 8, safe isolation G39, 17th edition, IPAF, working at Height and in compliance with memorandum of understanding agreements with public bodies.
- Maintain, repair, and configure all Humberside police Technical Support alarm systems, including all Humberside Police building alarms and signalling and MOD national sites.
- Build, install, Maintain, repair, and configure relevant equipment in Humberside police vehicles and train operatives on the use of installed equipment.
- Attend court and give evidence in respect of technical matters, if required.

What the role requires:
- Excellent organisational skills
- BS 7671 Electrical installations certificate would also be required.
- be able to maintain a current working knowledge of Health and Safety legislation. There will be regular lifting and carrying of heavy equipment, with relevant risk assessments on all operations.
- You must have a full UK driving licence and be able to pass a police-driving test in a police vehicle.
- Eyesight and an audiometric test will also be required.
- Experience of working in a confidential environment.
- Ability to work with minimum supervision when required.
- Have access to a vehicle and able to travel the force area.
- Holds a full UK Driving License
- Physical demanding job requires ability to lift
- Ability to prioritise workload.
