Hours:  8 Hours per month (Flexible)

Humberside Police are looking for someone to join their Special Operations Unit as a volunteer to assist with checking our PSU carriers.

As a volunteer in this role you will inspect and record the condition of PSU carriers held as a force mobilisation resource, enabling them to be continually stocked, prepared and held in good working order.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • To carry out basic visual checks on our PSU carriers and its relevant equipment.
  • To stock check the equipment within the vehicle
  • Complete simple condition reports accurately and clearly
  • You will be expected to report any faults, warning lights or safety concerns
  • You will complete visual checks on vehicle equipment including lights and fluid levels
  • To ensure vehicles are refuelled when required ready to be deployed
  • You will help to ensure the vehicles are safe, clean inside and out and ready for immediate use

 

Skills and knowledge required:

  • Basic understanding of cars and vehicle safety
  • Ability to follow checklists and procedures
  • Good attention to detail
  • Effective communication skills
  • Reliable and punctual
  • Full UK D1 driving licence preferred but not essential
  • Must be reliable and committed to the role.
  • A ‘can do’ attitude and the willingness to ask questions if unsure.
  • Honest and trustworthy with the ability to work independently.
  • An interest in vehicles and professional maintenance

 

*The role involves basic visual checks only and does not replace professional mechanical inspections or servicing.

Pre – Employment Checks and Eligibility:

  • Applicants must meet the minimum requirement checkable history criteria of at least 3 years continuous residency in the UK to apply for roles with Humberside Police.
  • Successful candidates will undergo a vetting procedure pre-requisite of employment. (Please note, with holding any information asked by the vetting department, may delay the vetting procedure, or result in your vetting been refused and the offer of employment been withdrawn)
  • Tattoo’s will be reviewed as a part of the recruitment process to ensure we maintain a level of professional standards and to make sure the images do not cause offence or are unacceptable.

It is not likely that closing dates will be extended, other than in exceptional circumstances and would need to be with the permission of the Recruitment Manager and Line Manager of the role.
