Overall Purpose of The Role: Responsibility for the identification, collation and analysis of a range of people data to enable the support of the delivery of the People Strategy and to enable the Force to effectively manage its people.  This will include completing regular people data documentation/ returns, managing people systems and databases and the reporting, data collection and quality control of people data.

 

The post holder will assist with projects to optimise the use of digital technology to continuously improve the timeliness and quality of people analytical and performance processing and reporting.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Input, maintain and retrieve data from computerised systems in order to provide people performance related management information and datasets, ensuring accuracy of data is maintained.
  • Support the continued improvement of data recording, reporting and analysis of all People Systems to collate intelligence on performance and management information related to our people, in a timely and accurate manner for key stakeholders, optimising the use of innovative technology.
  • Maintain an awareness of statistical techniques and relevant specialist tools to select appropriate approaches to report on people data. Based upon professional judgement and experience, ensure the application of a wide range of statistical techniques to facilitate informed and evidence-based decision making.
  • To provide data to review and report on the performance of People Services against the prescribed range of Key Performance measures, to enable performance to be assessed and remedial action taken.
  • To support the development of timely and accurate regulatory data submissions for Home Office, HMICFRS, production of statistical returns to the Home Office and the development of responses to Freedom of Information requests.
  • Through analysis and evaluation of records, undertake quantitative research to identify the reasons for performance trends in order to support corporate and local understanding and decision making.
  • Where appropriate, to work collaboratively with partners and other agencies in the development of performance and management information products and services.

What the role requires:

  • Experience of working in a customer orientated field
  • A working knowledge of statistical formulae and the presentation of data in clear and accurate format.
  • Proven ability to co-ordinate, management and progress multiple work assignments with minimal supervision
  • Have a methodical and logical approach to tasks, displaying significant attention to detail.
  • Must be IT literate with experience of Microsoft Excel (specifically; lookups, pivot tables, formulas, etc.) as well as knowledge of Word and PowerPoint.
  • Is able to prepare concise reports supporting opinions and recommendations with objective evidence
  • Has the ability to present information to a diverse audience.
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Excellent organisational skills
  • Carries out tasks in an accurate and methodical manner with an eye for detail.
  • Ability to prioritise workload.
