Salary: £25,950 - £26,703

Location: Priory Road HQ

Hours:  37 Hours Per Week (Full-Time) Monday to Thursday 0700-1500 Friday 0700-1430.

Flexibility Requirement: Candidates must be open to flexible daily working hours to meet the operational needs of the department. This may include adjusting start and finish times, providing cover during peak periods, or supporting colleagues during absences. Flexibility is essential to ensure consistent service delivery and effective team collaboration.

Contract: Permanent

Overall, Purpose of the role: To perform general driving duties and undertake a broad range of maintenance and handyperson duties, covering tasks surrounding logistics, reactive, statutory testing, planned maintenance, and grounds work. Provides support to all departments across the force area under the direction of the Building Maintenance Supervisor.

In addition, a significant element of the role with focus around undertaking grounds maintenance work across the joint estate, including grass cutting, weed removal, and maintenance of shrubbery and flower beds.

A full UK driving licence is essential, as occasional travel to other sites within the force area may be required to provide cover.

 

Key Responsibilities:

 

  • Undertakes work as necessary in the repair and maintenance of service property including logistics, reactive, planned maintenance and grounds work.
  • Investigates maintenance requests. Carries out minor repairs or makes an initial assessment of the situation and reports to supervision for attendance of contractor. Makes area safe and notifies staff and colleagues pending arrival of contractor and escorts contractors on site as requested.
  • Undertakes proactive assessment of building condition both internal and external, undertaking preventative work where required in order to minimise building maintenance costs across the force area.  
  • Is proactive in the assessment of internal and external building conditions and upkeep, including security measures, taking appropriate action to notify of contractor requirements through the asset management system.
  • Provides an audit service on maintenance testing programme in relation to legionella, emergency lighting tests, and PAT testing.
  • Undertakes vehicle safety checks (e.g. oil, tyres water etc.) to ensure that DHP vehicles are safe and roadworthy and reports defects promptly. Maintains the cleanliness of the vehicles.
  • Oversees fuel deliveries, passing fuel data to ESFM (Emergency Service Fleet Management) and undertakes fuel system re-boots as required
