About the team
Information Management governs the collection and processing of information within the Force, ensuring strict adherence to national legislation such as the Data Protection Act. Audits are undertaken to verify that the information being held is necessary, proportionate, relevant and in accordance with the law. Audits are necessary for due diligence and to support independent scrutiny of how the Force manages information, especially in relation to national systems.
About the role
To be responsible for the auditing and validating of transactions entered onto Force and national databases, ensuring access was undertaken for a legitimate policing purpose, that systems administration meets national compliance and that the quality and accuracy of data is of the highest standard. The Auditor will make necessary recommendations for action where errors or non-compliance is identified.
Responsibilities
In this role, you will be:
- Transaction monitoring/validating of the police systems to ensure that transactions are undertaken for policing purposes only and comply with national and force standards.
- Develop and design risk-based audit programmes with Information Asset Owners.
- Producing reports which set out the conclusions drawn from work undertaken and making recommendations for change where necessary.
- Undertaking complex and specialist audit reviews in accordance with audit plans using initiative, judgement, knowledge and experience in the management and execution of the audit to ensure a professional and consistent standard which is compliant with regulatory and statutory codes of practice and standards.

This vacancy is open only to those who have the right to work in the UK. Also, due to this role requiring MV/SC level vetting, you need to have continuously resided in the UK for the last 5 years. This residency needs to be in the immediate 5 years prior to this application. The application and interview will be tested under Level 2 of the College of Policing Competency and Values Framework.
