About the Role
We are seeking a skilled and motivated Vehicle Technician to repair, maintain, modify, and commission a diverse fleet of police vehicles and mobile units. Working across a multi-manufacturer environment, you will play a vital role in ensuring vehicles are fully operational, roadworthy, and equipped to support frontline policing and external blue light partners.
This role offers a Market Supplement of up to £5k

What You’ll Be Doing
- Carrying out mechanical and electrical repairs, diagnostics, and modifications using specialist equipment
- Commissioning new police vehicles, including installation of radios, cameras, and technical equipment
- Performing preventative maintenance, servicing, MOT preparation, and repair work to police standards
- Road testing vehicles and equipment to ensure safety and performance
- Decommissioning vehicles and safely removing reusable specialist equipment
- Maintaining accurate records of all work completed and parts used
- Supporting workshop operations, including maintaining tools, equipment, and a safe working environment
- Supervising and mentoring apprentices, contributing to their development
- Responding to minor breakdowns and carrying out warranty repairs when required

What We’re Looking For
- Proven experience in vehicle maintenance and repair across a range of manufacturers
- Strong diagnostic and problem-solving skills, including electrical and mechanical systems
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and manage a varied workload
- Knowledge of workshop practices, health and safety regulations, and vehicle compliance standards
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to high-quality workmanship
- Willingness to learn, adapt, and stay up to date with emerging technologies, including alternatively fuelled vehicles
- Ability to support and mentor apprentices
- Flexibility to work across different locations and respond to operational needs
