Financial Intelligence Officer - Police Staff

Why This Role Matters

This is your opportunity to be at the heart of the fight against financial and organised crime.

As a Financial Intelligence Officer, you’ll turn complex financial data into actionable intelligence — helping investigators follow the money, protect vulnerable people, recover criminal assets, and disrupt organised crime groups across Nottinghamshire.

Your work will directly influence investigations, inform tactical decisions, and make a real difference to public safety.

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Investigating and analysing financial intelligence from multiple internal and external sources
  • Transforming data into clear, compelling intelligence products that drive operational outcomes
  • Supporting investigations into financial crime and proceeds of crime recovery
  • Advising officers and managers using accurate, timely and objective intelligence
  • Working collaboratively across teams — and confidently on your own when required
  • Applying the National Decision Making Model to real-world, high‑impact decisions

What You’ll Bring

You’ll be analytical, curious, and confident working with data — with the judgement to stay calm and professional under pressure.

You’ll have experience of:

  • Researching information and evidence from diverse sources
  • Using and maintaining computerised data systems
  • Producing detailed reports and presenting information clearly
  • Making balanced, defensible decisions in time‑critical environments

You’ll be someone who:

  • Communicates confidently and clearly — in writing and verbally
  • Thrives on problem‑solving, innovation and continuous improvement
  • Manages competing priorities and tight deadlines with professionalism
  • Is self‑motivated, organised and comfortable working independently
  • Values teamwork and collaboration

Training, Development & Qualifications

  • GCSEs (or equivalent) at Grade C or above in English and Maths
  • Willingness to undertake specialist training in Financial Intelligence
  • Commitment to gaining and maintaining professional accreditation
  • Eagerness to build knowledge of police procedures and relevant legislation
  • Active ownership of your ongoing professional and career development

Our Values & Expectations

  • A strong commitment to Equal Opportunities and Championing Diversity
  • Flexibility to meet operational demands (hours and location)
