About the role

 Are you a fully qualified and dynamic finance professional, ready to take the lead on financial excellence and strategic impact?

We are seeking a driven and experienced Financial Controller to play a pivotal role in shaping our financial strategy, ensuring  robust governance, and supporting operational delivery across the force.

This is a high-profile and challenging opportunity for an individual who can combine technical expertise with commercial insight and strong stakeholder engagement. 

 

What you will be doing 

  • Lead on financial reporting and delivering annual audit
  • Manage compliance with statutory and regulatory requirements
  • Drive introduction of new ideas and delivering continuous improvement across the department
  • Lead, manage and motivate a well-established and motivated team
  • Provide financial advice to support decision makers at all levels
  • Deputise for the Chief Financial Officer
  • Engage with the Home Office and other key internal and external stake holders
  • Working with other forces as part of a regional collaboration, sharing new ideas, emerging technologies and best practise ideas and principals.

 

About you and your experience 

  • Fully qualified accountant (CIPFA/ACCA/ACA/CIMA) or equivalent
  • Proven experience in a similar role
  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to inspire and develop teams
  • Confidence to challenge, influence and support senior stakeholders
