Financial Control Accountant (Full and Part Qualified)
Role Purpose
North Wales Police are looking for a Financial Control Accountant to be the lead responsible for the production of the annual statement accounts, financial governance, capital accounting and Pensions Accounting. The role holder will provide strategic direction, leadership, quality of service, professional advice, accountability and to ensure efficiency and effectiveness across specific areas of responsibility. As a senior member of the Department’s Management Team, the post holder is expected to take a role in all aspects of the Department’s responsibilities and represent the Assistant Director Finance & Resources as and when required
You will be required to demonstrate in your application the minimum requirement for the role:
- Fully qualified accountant from a recognised professional body, preferably Chartered Institute of Public Finance and Accountancy (CIPFA). Alternatively, a part qualified accountant who is working towards the final stage of their professional qualifications, who also has extensive experience in public sector accounting (Pay scale will be either POC or POE dependant on starting level of qualifications, and will be reviewed as progression achieved).
- Has substantial experience in the financial and technical aspects of accounting within a public sector Finance Department.
- Has a systematic, disciplined and analytical approach to problem solving with excellent analysis skills.
- Has an ability to deliver to key deadlines producing quality outputs in a timely manner.
- Thinks logically and focuses on the key issues and can master concepts quickly beyond the finance function and summarise these for financial and non-financial audiences.
- Has experience of proactively managing change and risk, is focused on outcomes and receptive to new ideas.
- Can produce outputs that facilitate making sound and far-reaching decisions on major issues and take responsibility for them, whether in a financial, advisory or specialist role.
- Has first-class communication skills with the personal presence and track record to communicate effectively and command respect from staff at all levels.
- Excellent IT skills with extensive knowledge of Microsoft Office Applications. Good experience of using and developing financial systems.
For this role there are two available pay grades:
Fully Qualified Accountant - POE £60,912-£67,233
Part Qualified Accountant in the final 12 months of your qualification - POC £50,949 -£54,696 which would rise to POE once you have completed your qualification
