Job Title: Finance Support Officer
Salary: The starting salary is £40,519, which includes allowances totalling £3,009.
The salary is broken down as £37,510 basic salary, which will increase annually until you reach the top of the scale £40,141. Plus, a location allowance of £2,009 and a non-pensionable allowance of £1,000.
Location: Remote working nationally within UK. NPCC is currently based in close proximity to St James Park underground station, London and therefore occasional travel will be required to this premise and other Police locations across the UK. Contract – Fixed Term Contract until 31/03/2027 (with the potential for further extension subject to funding and performance).

NPCC FINANCE TEAM
NPCC Finance provides strategic financial insight and operational support to help the organisation deliver its priorities within a constrained budget. Working closely with business groups, procurement, and shared services, the team drives value for money through robust financial analysis, forecasting, and modelling. The function supports senior leadership with clear, timely advice on performance, risks, and opportunities, enabling informed decision-making, cost reduction, and service transformation. It also plays a key role in budgeting, strategic planning, commercial activity, and understanding demand, ensuring resources are used effectively and financial sustainability is maintained.
THE ROLE
The post holder will report to the NPCC Finance analyst and support them in the execution of their role. The post holder will oversee all the administrative purchasing and finance transactional duties working with the MPS’ outsourced finance service provider: SSCL. They will largely be involved with transactional elements such as raising Purchase Orders and ensuring payments to suppliers along with income collection and production of Monthly Management Reports. This role would be suited to someone with a working experience in finance and purchase to pay functions and would provide them with exposure to managing a whole organisations’ finances from beginning to end.
The successful candidate would need to have the following experiences and skills:
- Ability to operate at a detailed transactional analysis level using financial information systems to a high-level. Excellent attention to detail, working to a high level of accuracy. Highly organised and methodical.
- Experience working within a Finance department with knowledge of accounting standards, processes and controls
- Knowledge of MOPAC’s Scheme of Delegation, Finance Regulations and Contract Regulations and how they relate to approvals and internal controls
- Experienced user of Oracle or other major accounting software and other specialist systems supporting the finance function
- Able to work under own initiative utilising their knowledge for day to day problem solving. Highly motivated and proactive approach to working including a strong desire to meet deadlines and deliver quality work. Works flexibly when managing demand. Takes responsibility to meet demanding timetables and with competing priorities.

Occasional national travel may be required. Travel expenses will be paid if location allowance is not being received, or when travel falls outside of the home to work journey. NPCC will pay for overnight accommodation if required.
