The Office of the Police and Crime Commissioner (OPCC) for Wiltshire and Swindon is seeking a highly organised and proactive Executive Assistant (EA) to support the Police and Crime Commissioner.
This role offers a unique opportunity to work closely with the Police and Crime Commissioner (PCC), Chief Executive Officer (CEO), and senior management, playing a key role in the smooth and efficient running of the office.
The Role
As the Executive Assistant, you will be at the heart of the OPCC’s operations, providing comprehensive administrative support to the senior executive team. Your responsibilities will range from managing complex schedules, acting as a gatekeeper for high-level communications, and ensuring timely and accurate document production to facilitating meetings and handling public queries. This role requires you to be highly adaptable, able to prioritise tasks, and manage conflicting demands with ease.
Key Responsibilities
- Executive Support: You will serve as the first point of contact for senior leaders, screening calls, managing enquiries, and handling sensitive communications. You will ensure efficient diary management, arrange meetings, and oversee travel logistics while maintaining a high degree of discretion.
- Document Production & Research: Confident use of digital tools to produce high-quality documents, reports, presentations and briefing materials. You will also conduct research and prepare briefing documents, ensuring all information is relevant and well-organised.
- Meetings & Events: Manage all aspects of meeting logistics, from preparing and distributing agendas to booking rooms and organising refreshments. You will also plan and coordinate larger events such as seminars and ceremonies, ensuring smooth execution.
- Office Operations: Delivery of administrative functions, including record-keeping, filing, and responding to correspondence on behalf of the PCC. Ensure legal and compliance standards are met, particularly regarding information management and GDPR.
- Public Interface: Respond to general queries from internal and external stakeholders, including members of the public, partner organisations, and other PCC offices. You will resolve issues and provide signposting or advice as needed, maintaining a high standard of customer service.
What We’re Looking For
To excel in this role, you will need to be a proactive problem-solver with excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to handle confidential information with integrity. You will have a proven track record in providing executive or administrative support in a busy and high-pressure environment.
Key Requirements
- Educated to A Level standard or equivalent experience
- Proven secretarial and administrative experience, ideally supporting senior management in a fast-paced setting.
- Strong digital literacy, with experience of using technology to manage workflows, maintain records, and support effective communication.
- Exceptional diary management and organisational skills, with the ability to prioritise and juggle multiple tasks.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including minute-taking and preparing reports.
- High proficiency in Microsoft 365, including Outlook, Word, Excel and Teams, with the ability to use digital tools confidently and efficiently.
- Strong attention to detail and the ability to work autonomously, demonstrating initiative.
- A diplomatic and professional approach to managing relationships with a wide range of stakeholders.
- Confidence in handling sensitive information securely, with an understanding of digital records management, GDPR and information governance.
Desirable Skills
- Experience working in a politically sensitive or public sector environment.

- This role is politically restricted under the Local Government and Housing Act 1989.
- The successful candidate will require NPPV3 / SC security vetting.
