The starting salary for this role will usually be at the bottom of the salary range and will be pro-rata if the working hours are less than full time.

The Role & Key Responsibilities

As Executive Assistant the post holder provides proactive, forward-thinking support to the Deputy Chief Constable and the complex business they are responsible for. This will involve managing their day-to-day business and becoming actively involved in their work.

The post holder shall need to provide the highest levels of confidentiality, often having access to information, which is highly sensitive both for operational and personnel reasons, working independently without needing to share sensitive information or issues.

Candidates should note that the Executive Assistant is required to be based at Headquarters and work from there for the great majority of the time, although very occasional remote working may be accommodated where tasks and commitments allow.

Skills & Experience

• An interest in developing a boarder understanding of the business and the Deputy Chief Constables role and responsibilities at both local and national levels.

• Advanced organisational skills, including the ability to organise time and tasks for both self and the Deputy Chief Constable.

• Ability to manage several competing priorities and to produce results when under pressure, often to tight deadlines with little supervision.

• An ability to communicate clearly and professionally, both in writing and in person with officers and officials at all levels. Experience preparing reports, correspondence and summaries, and engaging with a variety of stakeholders, is desirable.

• Proactive approach to problem solving and to work in general.

• The ability to show resilience, even in difficult circumstances. Can make difficult decisions and has the confidence to see them through.

• An ability to review and interpret information, drawing out meaningful conclusions and sharing these effectively with different audiences.

• Adaptable and flexible to respond to changing demands with short notice whilst continuing to prioritise effectively.

• A good level of IT literacy with the ability to prepare clear, concise and informative presentations on Power Point or similar applications.

• Ability to work with highly confidential and sensitive information whilst maintaining its integrity.
