Exchequer Assistant (Fixed-Term)

About the Role

We are seeking a proactive and detail-oriented Exchequer Services Assistant to join our Finance team. This is a hybrid working opportunity, with working hours of Monday to Friday, 08:00 to 16:30. In this varied role, you will support the delivery of a high-quality exchequer service, ensuring financial transactions are processed accurately and efficiently while providing excellent support to both internal colleagues and external stakeholders. You will work closely with the Exchequer Services Manager and contribute to maintaining the highest professional and ethical standards.

What You’ll Be Doing
  • Processing creditor invoices accurately and within agreed timescales to ensure prompt payment.
  • Investigating and resolving complex invoice and payment queries with internal and external contacts.
  • Undertaking HQ cashier duties, including managing petty cash requests, returns, and reconciliations.
  • Processing purchase orders and supporting purchasing activities where required.
  • Setting up new suppliers and liaising with stakeholders throughout the approval process.
  • Completing supplier statement reconciliations and maintaining accurate financial records.
  • Processing firearms refunds and boarding-up related invoices, including conducting necessary investigations.
  • Arranging travel and accommodation bookings and resolving associated queries.
  • Providing advice, guidance, and support on exchequer-related matters across the Force.
  • Ensuring all exchequer processes are completed within established deadlines and service standards.
