ERSOU - CTP - PC/DC - Surveillance Officer

The Eastern Region Special Operation Unit (ERSOU) Counter Terrorism Policing (CTP) surveillance team are seeking applications from Police Officers of Constable rank who have successfully completed their probationary period to fill immediate and projected vacancies over the coming months. The application is open to both trained and untrained Officers from across the region.

This exciting and challenging secondment will allow you to operate at the forefront of national counter terrorism policing, you will be actively engaged in covert CT operations assisting to maintain national security. As shown in recent years the most significant risk to national security in the UK is the threat from International Terrorism, ERSOU CTP surveillance is an integral part of the UK’s National Counter Terrorism Network; it disrupts terrorism at every level, and at every opportunity playing a significant and vital role in this endeavour. As a Surveillance Officer you will use a wide range of covert tactics and cutting-edge technology, to investigate and disrupt terrorist activities by collecting high-quality evidence & intelligence for Police and partner agencies to bring terrorists to justice, a key process in maintaining the safety and security of our country.

The successful applicants will have an energetic, flexible, and innovative approach to working within this proactive environment, with the willingness to work unsocial and extended hours at short notice on live operations, working both independently and as part of our team to meet key investigative objectives. As a member of the ERSOU CTP Surveillance Team you will need to consistently demonstrate your ability to work to the highest standards of integrity, in line with the Code of Ethics, along with showing flexibility and commitment to the role. Officers work across all 6 constituent regional forces, providing national cover when required, and work one weekend in four on a rota basis, you will be notified of your shifts a week in advance. Although based within Bedfordshire, as a dedicated Surveillance Officer you will rarely work from a static location and will be expected to deploy across all 6 counties and nationally, as a result, vehicles will be provided to successful candidates with compensation paid for travel.
