The starting salary for this role will usually be at the bottom of the salary range and will be pro-rata if the working hours are less than full time.

The Role & Key Responsibilities

From your first day with us you will be part of a policing family making a real difference.

It is our mission to identify and protect vulnerable people, prevent and respond to harm and keep people safe.

In this role, you will be part of the Driver Training Team, delivering a range of driving courses, with a primary focus on Response and Initial Phase Pursuit training around the counties to all employees and volunteers associated with the force.

You will be involved in the development of all courses in line with the Roads policing and police driving learning programme and force policy.

This is an exciting opportunity to work with a highly skilled team, supporting the force and ensuring training is delivered to the highest possible standard.

Key roles and responsibilities

In this role you will be required to work as part of a team producing, maintaining and updating training products that meet both national and force criteria.

You will be producing written or electronic documentation to evidence students progress and take an active role in providing and receiving constructive feedback from both students and colleagues for development.

Vehicle preparation, equipment checks and documentation preparation and submissions in a timely manner.

Mandated attendance of CPD to keep up-to-date with changing driver training practice.

Candidates my be able to demonstrate the ability to develop personal competence at driving to basic and standard levels and must also be able to demonstrate an understanding of legislation, including the Road Traffic Act, The Highway Code, Roadcraft, Human Rights Act and Health and Safety Guidelines.

Ability to problem solve autonomously or in consultation with peers or the Chief Driving Instructor to create and deliver strategic solutions.

Have a self-disciplined approach to tasks, with the ability to be flexible and work to tight timescales.

Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills and be able to communicate and adapt communications to the needs of the learner.

Demonstrate and understanding and appreciation of the concept of diversity, with the ability to embed this knowledge throughout all learning and development programmes.

Additional Information

Regular travel within the force area to support training events, maintain professional links with stakeholders and occasionally deliver training events.

Flexible around the need for regular evening work in line with course requirements.

Ability to satisfy Group 2 medical standards (or higher) as prescribed by Occupational Health and force policies annually.

Skills & Experience

Essential Qualifications

  • To hold a current full clean driving licence for category B vehicles (manual).

Desirable Qualifications

  • To hold or be willing to work towards a TEP (Training Essentials Programme) qualification or eqivalent (L4 AET)
  • Response, IPP, Advanced or TPAC driving qualifications.
