Job Title: Driving Academy Administrational Support
Salary: The starting salary is £36,228, which includes allowances totalling £3,009.
The salary is broken down as £33,219 basic salary, which will increase annually until you reach the top of the scale £35,541 Plus, a location allowance of £2,009 and a non-pensionable allowance of £1,000.
Location: Newton House, Hendon (Option to occasionally work from Marlowe House, Sidcup or Havering Patrol Base, Romford), with ability to occasionally work flexibly/remotely in accordance with MPS polices and line management support.
The Metropolitan Police Service (MPS) Driving Academy is a College of Policing Licensed Training Establishment, consisting of 70 officers and staff based across 3 sites, delivering Police Driving Courses and Refresher Training to MPS Officers and Staff.
A unique opportunity to be part of the Driving Academy Administrational Support Team, consisting of 2 staff, who will support the academy across the 3 broad areas below:
The role encompasses across 3 key areas
- College of Policing Licensing & Accreditation Support, including licensing application support, and management of student records in line with College of Policing Assessment Strategy.
- To manage and co-ordinate Police Driving Instructor duties to ensure that MPS training demands are met efficiently, and in line with College of Policing Programme Specification, and Prescribed Training Regulations, as set out in the Police, Crime, Sentencing and Courts Act 2022.
- To support the delivery of DVSA Theory tests by invigilating and supervising candidates, ensuring a fair and compliant testing environment in line with DVSA Standards.
Key Role Description
COP Licensing Area of Work
- Preparing the annual MPS submission to the College of Policing for the organisation’s COP License to deliver Driver Training.
- Administration of all Police Driving Instructor accreditation matters throughout the year.
- Administration of the Driving Academy Risk Register & Action Log
- Scanning, recording and retention of all ongoing staff training that takes place throughout the training year.
- Updating and maintaining COP Records of Assessment in line with latest Police Driving Learning Outcomes and Assessment Criteria,
Duties and Planning Area of Work
- Creation of an Annual Training Plan (ATP) and Quarterly Instructor Duties
- Managing the Driving Academy Mailbox, considering staff A/L requests/other duty commitments against course delivery.
- Attend meetings and liaising with other MPS and L&D stakeholders related to course/duty management.
- Creating fortnightly Fatigue Risk Management reports to monitor staff welfare, ensuring compliance with MPS Policy of Working Time Regulations.
- Creating LMS courses for Surge Activity and Overtime schedules
- Daily/Weekly management of Driving Academy Duties in line with changing resource/demand picture and fleet availability
DVSA Invigilation & Transferee Records Areas of Work
- DVSA theory test booking / invigilation / test delivery
- Ensuring DVSA compliance and managing audits including undertaking annual supervised test delivery by DVSA compliance team
- Overseeing and managing Driving Academy Mailbox dealing with general enquiries
- Supporting main office duties and taskings e.g. scanning student records
- Managing transferee and re-joiner requests and ensuring correct and compliant record management
- Managing external course return administration and appropriate authorisations
