The Opportunity

Are you passionate about safeguarding vulnerable people and making a real difference in communities across York and North Yorkshire? We are seeking a dedicated and proactive Domestic Abuse Coordinator (DAC) to play a key role in supporting the force's response to domestic abuse.

Working within the wider Safeguarding Team and alongside local Commands, the Domestic Abuse Coordinator will provide supervision and guidance to local Domestic Abuse Officers (DAOs), ensuring a consistent and effective approach to domestic abuse prevention, intervention and safeguarding across the county.

The successful candidate will work closely with a wide range of partner agencies to promote a coordinated, multi-agency response to domestic abuse. You will support the Joint Coordinating Group (JCG) and contribute to the development, implementation and monitoring of county-wide strategies, action plans and key initiatives designed to improve outcomes for victims and communities.

As part of a collaborative team, you will help drive consistency in the delivery of domestic abuse services and initiatives across York and North Yorkshire. This includes working with local areas to support the development and implementation of local action plans, ensuring alignment with force priorities, Domestic Abuse Forums and wider partnership objectives.

This is an exciting opportunity for someone with strong partnership-working skills, experience within safeguarding or domestic abuse services, and a commitment to improving support for those affected by domestic abuse. You will play a vital role in influencing positive change, strengthening multi-agency relationships, and helping to shape the future of domestic abuse services across the region.

What We’re Looking For

  • Experience in report writing, proofreading and maintaining accurate records.
  • Strong research and analytical skills.
  • Experience providing advice and guidance to managers and stakeholders on domestic abuse-related matters.
  • Excellent IT skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint and Outlook.
  • Confident presentation and communication skills.
  • Proven ability to build effective working relationships with internal and external partners.
  • Ability to work independently, manage competing priorities and meet deadlines.
  • Experience working collaboratively as part of a team to deliver shared objectives.
  • Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with professionalism and discretion.
  • A willingness and ability to travel across the York and North Yorkshire policing area.

  • Full UK driving license
  • Meet residency requirements for vetting:

o   RV Level Vetting – minimum 3 years UK residency
