As a Dispatch Operator you will work as part of a team to deploy officers to incidents, manage the incident summary queue with district supervision, monitor and manage the radio and provide ongoing backup and support to officers to ensure that they have all the relevant information when attending an incident. You will monitor the welfare of all officers by responding to radio transmissions and carrying out periodic checks on officers dispatched to incidents together with carrying out incident background checks using PNC and other GMP resources. These posts attract 20% shift allowance and 14.90% weekend enhancement which is not payable during the initial 8 week training period. Starting salary will be £30,333 - £32,613 (per annum) for the first 8 weeks of training then increase to £40,786 - £43,851 (per annum) which includes 20% shift allowance and 14.90% weekend enhancement. Successful candidates will be required to attend an 8‑week Dispatch training course, which runs Monday to Friday. No annual leave will be permitted during this 8‑week period. Any candidates with pre‑arranged commitments during this time will need to be deferred to the next available course. Our next Dispatch training course is scheduled to commence in January 2027.
