This is an outstanding opportunity to join the Digital Forensic Unit team at North Wales Police as the Digital Forensic Unit Administrative Technician. You’ll be joining on a Permanent contract within an organisation that will truly support your success in the workplace.

What does the Digital Forensic Unit Administrative Technician role entail?

Within your role you will accept and process all electronic device exhibit formats whilst upholding the highest standard of integrity in relation to exhibit management. You will be required to liaise and communicate with a range of internal and external stakeholders. This role will involve the administrative management and support of the digital data review process and may therefore involve the exposure to distressing material. A high level of confidentiality, responsibility and commitment is essential.

Other duties will include, but not be limited to:

  • Ability to pay close attention to detail.
  • Manage consumables and equipment throughout the department.
  • Research new developments and technology in the field of digital technology.
  • Examine existing working practices and amend or introduce new technology and working practices where necessary
  • Keep up to date with regards to new developments and technology in the field of digital technology.
  • Perform maintenance and repair of equipment. Commensurate with levels of training and health and safety requirements.
  • Answering telephone calls/e-mails and assisting with all queries and visitors to the department.

You will be required to demonstrate in your application the minimum requirement for the role:

  • NVQ 4/HND or equivalent qualification in Policing, Computer Science, Forensic Computing or similar field, or an equivalent amount of proven relevant administrative experience.
  • Proven decision-making and communication skills.
  • In depth working knowledge and experience of information technology, specifically Microsoft operating systems and Microsoft office.
  • Knowledge of different computer components and digital storage devices.
  • Able to problem solve different and varied issues through innovative and creative thinking very often in areas without previous points of reference.
  • Proven communication skills, both written and oral, together with the ability to relay information and opinion to officers surrounding the submission of exhibits to the DFU.
  • Possess good organisational skills, together with the ability to prioritise and meet deadlines under pressure and on own initiative.
  • The role also requires applicants to have a pro-active, self-motivated approach, who can work as part of a team and on their own initiative.
  • Willingness to undertake personal study.
