Job Title: Digital Forensic Technician (DF Quality)
Salary: The starting salary is £46,985, which includes allowances totalling £3,009.
The salary is broken down as £43,976 basic salary, which will increase annually until you reach the top of the scale £49,670 Plus, a location allowance of £2,009 and a non-pensionable allowance of £1,000.

This is an exciting opportunity to join the Metropolitan Police Service’s Digital Forensics Quality Team within the Forensic Science Department as a Digital Forensic Technician.
We are seeking a talented and enthusiastic individual with existing digital forensic and technical knowledge to support the ongoing development, maintenance, and improvement of our Quality Management System for Digital Forensics. The individual will support the delivery of our existing and future scopes of accreditation to ensure compliance with national and international quality standards as well as the requirements of the Criminal Justice System.
The role is based at Lambeth HQ and offers flexible and agile working arrangements.
Duties include but are not limited to;
- Maintaining and improving the Quality Management System across all Digital Forensic disciplines to meet the relevant quality standards: ISO/IEC 17025:2017, ILAC-G19:06/2022 and the Forensic Science Regulator’s Code of Practice
- Maintaining, conducting and supporting the internal audit process, writing up reports and raising non-conformities and improvements in accordance with corporate policy
- Taking ownership of quality incidents and working in conjunction with the relevant disciplines to ensure these are investigated, actioned and closed effectively and in a timely manner that minimises the risk of quality failure
- Writing, reviewing and assisting with the development of DF wide technical and non-technical standard operating procedures and forms, relating to areas including but not limited to: training and competency, equipment and asset management, software updates, environmental controls, information security and control of data
- Achieve and maintain discipline specific competency
