Digital Backstopping Officer (SEROCU)

As a Digital Backstopping Officer, you will play a vital role in supporting covert operations and digital policing activity across the South East, helping to deliver operational success behind the scenes. Working as part of a small, highly trusted team within the SEROCU Covert Operations Unit, you will provide specialist support to a range of sensitive and dynamic investigations.

This is a unique opportunity to contribute to complex policing operations, managing critical information, supporting operational deployments, maintaining robust records and systems, and ensuring all activity is delivered professionally and in line with legislation, policy, and national standards.

We are looking for a highly organised and proactive individual who thrives in a fast-paced environment and can confidently manage competing priorities. You will have exceptional attention to detail, strong analytical skills, and the utmost discretion when handling sensitive information.

Experience working with digital systems, intelligence, investigations, or within a policing environment would be beneficial, but equally important is your ability to communicate effectively, adapt to changing demands, and consistently deliver high-quality support. If you are motivated by making a meaningful contribution to protecting our communities and want to be part of a team supporting some of the region's most significant covert operations, we would love to hear from you.

You will be asked to demonstrate flexibility regarding working hours in line with operational demand and occasionally this may require working away from home. For this reason a full UK Driving Licence is essential to the role.

Due to the nature of our work, security is of paramount importance to us and therefore it will be necessary to pass and maintain vetting level SC together with a number of enhanced security checks.  In order to achieve this, you must have resided in the UK for the past five years. Exemptions may apply for overseas or other diplomatic service (with HM Government), and those studying abroad.
