Lead the Fight Against Serious Organised Acquisitive Crime
An opportunity has arisen for a Substantive Detective Sergeant to join the Macclesfield Proactive CID Team.
This is a specialist role within a fast-paced, intelligence-led environment targeting serious organised acquisitive crime and priority offenders operating across Cheshire and beyond. The successful applicant will lead proactive investigations and operational activity focused on disrupting and dismantling organised criminality associated with burglary, robbery, vehicle crime, drugs offences, and other serious acquisitive offending.

About the Role
The successful applicant will supervise a proactive team responsible for identifying, targeting and disrupting prolific offenders and organised crime groups through intelligence-led policing tactics.
The role requires a flexible and dynamic supervisor who can effectively manage covert and overt policing tactics whilst maintaining focus on safeguarding victims, reducing harm, and improving investigative outcomes.
The post holder will work closely with CID teams, intelligence departments, Force surveillance assets, specialist operations teams and external partners to maximise opportunities to prevent and detect crime.
Key Responsibilities
- Supervise proactive investigations into serious organised acquisitive crime.
- Lead intelligence-led operations targeting prolific and priority offenders.
- Develop and oversee disruption plans against organised crime groups.
- Manage covert and overt policing tactics in accordance with relevant legislation and policy.
- Ensure high standards of investigation, disclosure and case file quality.
- Support and mentor detectives and investigators within the team.
- Work collaboratively with internal departments and external partners to achieve operational objectives.
- Identify emerging crime trends and direct resources accordingly.
- Maintain effective performance and investigative standards across the team.
Essential Criteria
Applicants must:
- Be a Substantive Detective Sergeant.
- Demonstrate experience working within a proactive policing environment.
- Provide evidence of involvement in covert investigations and intelligence-led policing activities.
- Demonstrate experience of burglary investigations and serious acquisitive crime investigations.
- Have excellent leadership, decision-making and organisational skills.
- Be able to operate effectively within a fast-paced and demanding environment.
- Demonstrate flexibility and the ability to respond to rapidly changing operational priorities.
