GMP’s DBS Unit is responsible for carrying out work for the Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) in accordance with GMP’s statutory obligations. The DBS is an executive non-departmental public body sponsored by the Home Office, which exists to help employers make safer recruitment decisions and prevent unsuitable people from working with vulnerable groups.
The DBS Researcher and Administrator plays a critical role in ensuring the effective completion of Disclosure applications. In this post you will primarily be responsible for interrogating police systems, assessing information for relevance, and creating basic reports. You will also provide an administrative and reception function for the unit. Suitable candidates must be prepared to deal with sensitive and explicit information.
The DBS Unit is externally funded and prides itself in providing all staff with ongoing training and development opportunities. The DBS researcher and administrator is an entry-level role with potential for future promotion within the unit.
The DBS Unit is based in Unit A within the Central Park complex, with good transport links and ample free staff parking. After a successful probationary period and competency evaluation, this post is eligible for hybrid working, which offers a combination of office and home working.
