We are seeking a knowledgeable and detail-focused Data Protection Officer to support the Force's compliance with data protection and information disclosure legislation. Working within the Data Protection Unit, you will provide advice, process information requests and help ensure the lawful handling of sensitive information across the organisation.
What You'll Be Doing- Responding to Data Protection, Freedom of Information and other information disclosure requests.
- Researching, retrieving and assessing information from Force systems.
- Applying appropriate redactions and preparing formal disclosure responses.
- Providing advice and guidance to staff, officers and members of the public.
- Supporting publication scheme requirements and assisting with internal reviews.
- Mentoring colleagues and helping deliver data protection awareness sessions.
This role plays a vital part in maintaining public trust by ensuring information is managed and disclosed lawfully, fairly and transparently. Your work will help protect sensitive data while supporting the Force's legal and operational responsibilities.
What We're Looking ForWe are looking for someone with strong attention to detail, excellent communication skills and the ability to interpret legislation and policies. You should be comfortable handling sensitive information, working independently and building effective relationships with colleagues and external partners. Experience in data protection, information governance or information disclosure processes would be advantageous.
