The role holder will act as Officer in Charge (OIC) for investigations, holding responsibility for case management and disclosure obligations.
  • Progress proactive operations generated from intelligence packages (e.g., NCA or internal Dark Web team) to disrupt online criminal markets and dismantle offender networks.
  • Collaborate with national and regional cybercrime partners (e.g., NCSC, NCA, RCCUs, ROCUs, City of London Police) to share intelligence and coordinate cross-jurisdictional investigations.
  • Maintain accurate records and manage concurrent cases, prioritising workloads under the direction of the Detective Sergeant to achieve timely outcomes.

Who we're looking for:

  • Understanding of cybercrime typologies, computer network systems and the evidential opportunities arising from malware and indicators of compromise.
  • Working knowledge of relevant legislation including the Computer Misuse Act 1990 and General Data Protection Regulation.
  • Skilled in conducting complex criminal investigations, applying intelligence and evidential techniques.
  • Skilled in preparing and conducting formal interviews with suspects, witnesses and victims.
  • Skilled in analysing digital data and financial transactions, including digital assets.
  • Clear written and verbal communication skills, with ability to convey technical information to non-technical audiences.
  • Skilled in prioritising multiple investigations with limited supervision and meeting evidential deadlines.
  • Proven recent experience in conducting complex reactive and proactive investigations through to prosecution.
  • Experience preparing court applications and managing large case files, including disclosure obligations.
  • Experience in custody procedures and prisoner handling.
  • Experience applying for and executing warrants.
