Counter Terrorism Policing North West (CTPNW) is a five-force collaboration delivering Counter Terrorism (CT) services to our regional forces as well as forming part of the national CT Network. CTPNWs mission is to work together to keep people safe from terrorism.

Information about the specific role:
We are looking for a committed and outstanding individual to fulfil the role of Sergeant Source Manager within the Dedicated Source Handling Unit (DSHU) capability in CTPNW.
As a Source Manager, you will lead staff in the DSHU to proactively recruit and manage CHIS, debriefing and developing intelligence to support national security activity. You will be responsible for the direct line management of constables and police staff in the DSHU in their role performed in line with the CHIS Manual of Standards. We are looking for an individual who demonstrates excellent interpersonal skills with a positive can-do attitude and great team building skills.
To do this role you should:
Be able to dynamically lead a team of handlers, ensuring they work cohesively together to deliver human intelligence requirements for the counter terrorism network and wider partners.
Be confident to work in partnership with other forces and agencies on a national level in support of identified threats and priorities.
Attention to detail is paramount. As Source Manager, you will ensure that the handling, use and conduct of sources is in accordance with legislation, policy and procedures.
Be able to monitor the welfare of the source and the relationship between the Handlers and the source.
Be capable of identifying, recruiting and developing covert human intelligence sources in conjunction with partner agencies in order to gather intelligence to support national security priorities and CTPNW requirements.
Ensure CHIS Handlers maintain accurate records of meetings, payments, expenses and rewards in accordance with policy; ensuring honesty and integrity at all times.
Be able to demonstrate a proven track record in outstanding communication and interpersonal skills.
Be able to provide out of hours Controller cover on a regular basis as part of a rota system.
The role will be based in Merseyside. You will be expected to travel around the NW region to attend meetings / manage staff at multiple sites. The role requires access to the most sensitive intelligence material daily and applicants must hold, or be prepared to undergo, National Security Vetting at Developed Vetting level before taking up the post. Successful candidates are required to go through further checks after being appointed.
Role specific training will be provided to successful candidates. Elements of the training will be pass or fail.
