Counter Terrorism Policing North West (CTPNW) is a five-force collaboration delivering Counter Terrorism (CT) services to our regional forces as well as forming part of the national CT Network. CTPNWs mission is to work together to keep people safe from terrorism.
We are looking for a committed and outstanding individual who can support CTPNW in achieving its mission.
The Internet Intelligence Investigation Unit (III) Unit is a small specialist unit who conduct covert and overt online investigation for National Security Operations. This unit sits within the Intelligence department of CTPNW.
As part of the III team, you are a taskable asset for national security units in order to develop intelligence and capture key evidential material utilising specialist open-source techniques. The role requires Practitioners to become proficient in advanced OSINT tradecraft and apply this effectively in national security investigations.
As a subject matter expert, you will help formulate investigative strategies for SIOs and Intelligence Managers. As part of the role, officers are expected to become experts in application of RIPA legislation and national guidance in relation to online investigations. Following becoming competent in role, officers will complete a training qualification which allows them to deliver formal training products and CPD presentations within the CT network.
Staff joining the team will receive a number of advanced open-source intelligence courses including:
-Advanced Online techniques
-Online Persona building
-Dark Web Investigations
-Online Gaming
-Cloud Based Investigations
-Artificial Intelligence
-Forensic Linguistics
-Level 3 Trainer qualifications
Practitioners within the unit are expected to continually develop their skills through formal training and their own proactive development to remain operationally competent
There will be 2 x Teams information sessions held to provide potential applicants with the information including the following:
-An overview of the role
-How III fit into CT investigations
-Training you will undertake once in role
-Interview process
-Open sessions for any other questions
