At the National CBRN Centre, we bring together the emergency services to protect and prepare the UK against the chemical, biological, radiological and nuclear (CBRN) threat. Its a critical function and were looking for a suitably experienced and qualified FRS Station Commander/Manager (or equivalent), either temporary or substantive on a 2 year secondment.
You will represent the Fire and Rescue Service (FRS) within the CBRN portfolio, working across and in conjunction with the four thematic teams; Capabilities, Training & CPD, Operations and Performance & Development, to support, strengthen and assure the overall police and FRS response to CBRN Terrorism. This role falls under the Training team.
You will be based at our modern College of Policing site in Ryton, near to Coventry. The role is primarily based in the Coventry area but may be required to visit various locations across the UK and internationally. A Central Service Allowance is payable which covers working away from home or other additional hours of work.
The role
You will work with partners to improve the overall CBRN operational response, building relationships and championing the principles of Joint Emergency Services Interoperability Programme (JESIP) through delivery of joint organisational learning.
Within the team, you will take forward the development, design, delivery, evaluation and assurance of training & Continuing Professional Development (CPD) products to encourage individual learning. You will provide FRS subject matter expert knowledge to ensure quality in training and development programmes through delivery of cost-effective training in support of CBRN strategy.
Current knowledge of FRS National Resilience Assets and Core Functions is essential along with having a CBRN responder background, experience of multi-agency working and stakeholder engagement.
You will hold a training qualification such as BTEC Level 3, or equivalent, or be willing to work towards a higher training qualification.
Responsibilities
Contributing effectively as part of a small team of police officers, police staff, paramedics and FRS trainers to ensure the team delivers the Centres CBRN multi-agency and service specific training programme.
Day to day decision making within the classroom environment.
Building and developing relationships with external agencies and partners.
Developing and maintaining senior level relationships.
Carrying out any tasks that the Head of Centre, Training Manager requires that are commensurate with role i.e. supporting the delivery of CBRN capabilities, testing & exercising and assurance events across all emergency services.
