CSI Tier 1 - Police Staff

Main Purpose of Role

To provide a comprehensive Crime Scene Investigation capability across the East Midlands Region under the direction and control of EMSOU-FS, principally focusing on service delivery to volume crime.  The Tier 1 Crime Scene Investigators independently attend volume crime scenes such as burglaries and stolen vehicles to secure and recover forensic evidence.

Key Skills & Experience Required

  • Demonstrate a general awareness of photographic or scientific techniques which would be deployed to support crime scene investigation work.
  • Experience of working within a customer focused environment.
  • Experience of working in a logical, methodical manner, even when under pressure.
  • Demonstrate the ability to be flexible and adapt to changing work situations.
  • Able to demonstrate attention to detail.
  • Able to plan and organise time and prioritise work effectively.
  • Ability to work as part of a team and on own initiative with the minimum of supervision.

Shift Allowances:

Weekend working and unsociable hours allowances apply as part of 7 day working shift pattern.  Payments also for standby.  All shift allowances in accordance with Police Staff Handbook.

Vetting Level – Management – you must have resided in the UK for at least the last 5 years, with less than 12 months spent abroad (some exceptions for those living on a UK military base).
