Crime Scene Investigator - Grade 2

In this role you will carry out the duties of an operational Crime Scene Investigator, examining and photographing crime scenes and recovered property for fingerprints and other forensic evidence.

You will be required to demonstrate in your application the minimum requirement for the role:

  • Previous experience in a customer-orientated environment is essential.
  • Good communication skills, both verbal and written, at all levels.
  • Computer literate, with a working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications.
  • The post holder will be required to drive Force vehicles, and therefore must hold a full driving licence.
  • The post holder must provide biometric data (fingerprints and DNA) for elimination purposes

DESIRABLE:

The post holder will have either successfully completed the Initial Scenes of Crime training course,

Or

Have already completed the Volume Crime Scene Investigator training course and the Crime Scene Investigator conversion course,

Or

have already completed the Volume Crime Scene Investigator training course and will subsequently need to: complete an abridged Professional Development Portfolio (PDP) to evidence competence as a Crime Scene Investigator (CSI) Grade 1, then complete and pass the CSI Stage 2 course followed by completion, within 12 months, of the Professional Development Portfolio (PDP) to evidence competence as a CSI Grade 2,

Or

have already completed the Crime Scene Investigator Stage 1 training course and completed the Professional Development Portfolio (PDP) to evidence competence as a CSI Grade 1 and will subsequently need to: complete and pass the CSI Stage 2 course followed by completion, within 12 months, of the Professional Development Portfolio (PDP) to evidence competence as a CSI Grade 2.

  • A forensic/science background is advantageous.

Prior Education:

HNC/D or equivalent level of qualification in photography, forensics or other relevant subject, and/or an equivalent amount of relevant experience.
